My journey into film photography began in 2020, during my photographic wanderings. Soon after, a passion was born under the gaze of Mr. David Falco, renowned photographer and esteemed professor of fine arts. A year later, I left my native West to settle in Lyon, where I started my business... and guess what: I became a photographer!
In 2023, after two years of activity, my observation was clear: I was no longer wandering, I had lost my state of flow, and I hadn't touched a film camera in two years. Poor K1000!
It was during a random search on the famous "Boncoin" (a French classifieds website) that I stumbled upon Nenest. A remarkable character from Cherbourg, a former sports press photographer, nestled in the Cotentin region. But before being the man he is today, he is above all a great collector of film cameras. A detour through the train station, and off I went with my satchel to meet him.
Arriving at his place, I discovered an apartment strewn with photographic machines. Some were clearly visible, others were wrapped in newspapers. Two days passed, and more than 600 cameras crossed my path. The last night was the result of an obvious reflection: to extend their story.
Nenest gave me his agreement, and after 2-3 round trips to Cherbourg and 300 cameras later...
A new reflection emerged: that of coherence. I cannot sell defective devices to demanding future customers. Thus, I decided to take a comprehensive repair training course with Benjamin.
One thing leading to another, I fell under the spell of these wonderful machines, made of gears and screws. A new passion was born through the object itself, sometimes over 100 years old and still functional. They are in my hands: magnificent!
In practicing, I truly realize the profound meaning of artisanal trades. The hand works, the mind calms. And to this is added a counter-current (already adopted by many) to our consumer society.
Six months later, it is with joy and pride that I present to you the birth of France Argentique.
